Batch Building & Remodeling is an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm

Batch Building & Remodeling is an EPA-certified lead-safe firm. This means that Batch Building & Remodeling is certified to remove lead-based paint from pre-1978 structures where lead paint is known to be present.

In 2008 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued the renovation, repair and painting (RRP) rule that applies to home improvement contractors and other types of maintenance professionals in the business of renovating or repairing housing that has lead paint in the project area. These types of homes usually were built prior to 1978.

All contractors and maintenance professionals were required to be certified by April 2010 including all employees working for these contractors and maintenance professionals. All must adhere to protective lead-safe standards of work if there is a presence of lead paint in the proposed work area.

The Rule also specifies that warning signs must be posted in the work areas restricting access to that area and that the work area must be contained to prevent the spread of dust and debris. At the end of the project, the contractors and maintenance professionals are required to cleanup thoroughly and to verify that the cleanup was done effectively.

The RRP Rule is a key component of federal efforts underway to eliminate lead poisoning of children.
